Loco Dice’s heralded Desolat label arrives back in Farringdon at large on Saturday 17th November to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Since the imprint’s foundation, a partnership coined by Dice and Martin Buttrich in Brooklyn, New York back in 2007, their penchant for forward thinking underground techno has yielded releases from Jay Haze, Dubfire and Luciano alongside albums from Dice, Buttrich and Guti. Their collective passion for the medium has also coined a sister label, Desolat X – an on-going vinyl only series that rips deeper into the edgier territory of peak time that has already featured music from DJ Sneak, David Squillace and Shlomi Aber – and an umbrella operation that houses a group of artists who share the same unstoppable passion for electronic music: Guti, tINI and Livio & Roby.
The much lauded Dice will himself arrive back at fabric after a year of relentless touring with a fresh collection of brand new tracks on his Toxic EP – which is out later in November – and an exclusive mixed compilation of label material simply called: 5 Years of Desolat. There’s probably no better way to present his return and the concept that permeates the Desolat operation than to surround him with the kind of people who’ve inspired him musically so to mark the releases he’ll be joined in Room One by a selection of label mates and friends.
Argentian producer Guti, who released his killer album of organic jazz textures and Latin house rhythms, Patio de Juegos, on Desolat last year, joins Berlin spin stress and acclaimed DJ, tINI and Hector, whose dance floor-destroying tracks on Crosstown Rebels, Tsuba and One Records have earned him cult status across London’s underground circuit and beyond, in flanking Dice to celebrate their half decade milestone.
Like Dice himself says: “with Desolat celebrating its five year anniversary this year, we have an amazing family of artists who can come together to rock any party. That, coupled with the special venue and dedicated team at fabric, means I’m sure this will be one of our best Desolat parties ever. I can’t wait to destroy that Room One sound system.”
